Revolut Savings Vaults let you earn interest on cash held within your Revolut account. They are instant-access, easy to set up, and offer competitive rates — but they work differently from a traditional UK savings account. Here is what you need to know.

What Is a Revolut Savings Vault?
A Savings Vault is a separate pot within your Revolut account that earns interest. You can:
- Create multiple Vaults (e.g. one for a holiday, one for an emergency fund)
- Move money in and out instantly
- Set a savings goal
- Name and customise each Vault
Vaults are accessible in the Revolut app under the Savings section.
Savings Vault Rates (2026)
Revolut’s savings rates change regularly. Check the app for the current rate before opening a Vault. Rates typically vary by plan:
| Plan | Rate (indicative 2026) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Standard (free) | Lower rate | Rate changes without notice |
| Plus (£2.99/month) | Slightly higher | |
| Premium (£7.99/month) | Higher rate | More competitive with market leaders |
| Metal (£13.99/month) | Highest rate |
Always verify the current rate in the app — rates are not guaranteed and can change.
For a precise current rate comparison, check the Revolut app’s Savings section and compare against dedicated easy-access savings accounts from banks and building societies.
How Revolut Savings Vaults Work
Unlike a traditional savings account, money in a Revolut Savings Vault may be held in money market funds rather than as a straightforward bank deposit. Money market funds invest in very short-term, low-risk instruments (government bonds, short-term corporate debt). They are considered very low risk but do carry a small amount of investment risk — in theory, the value could fall slightly, though this is rare.
This is fundamentally different from:
- A traditional savings account at a bank: deposit guaranteed up to £85,000 by FSCS
- A Revolut Savings Vault: not FSCS-covered; protected by safeguarding, not deposit insurance
FSCS Protection
Revolut is now a fully licensed UK bank. Revolut received its UK banking licence from the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) in July 2024. This means deposits with Revolut Bank UAB UK — including money in Savings Vaults — are FSCS-protected up to £85,000 per person, exactly like Monzo, Starling, or Barclays.
Before July 2024, Revolut operated as an e-money institution and used safeguarding rather than FSCS insurance. This is no longer the position for UK customers.
If you joined before July 2024: Check your app under Account → Account details. If you see “Revolut Bank UAB UK” as the legal entity, your deposits are FSCS-protected. Most existing UK customers were migrated automatically.
For the complete breakdown of what changed and how to verify your protection status, see Is Revolut FSCS Protected?.
Revolut Savings vs Dedicated Easy-Access Accounts
| Provider | FSCS protection | Rate competitiveness | Instant access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revolut Savings Vault | Yes (FSCS — from July 2024) | Competitive | Yes |
| Chase saver | Yes (bank) | Competitive | Yes |
| Monzo Pot (instant access) | Yes (bank) | Competitive | Yes |
| Marcus by Goldman Sachs | Yes (bank) | Strong | Yes |
| Chip | No (e-money) | Strong | Yes |
| Traditional ISA | Yes | Variable | Usually yes |
For large amounts (above the level where you are comfortable without FSCS protection), a dedicated savings account at an FSCS-protected bank is safer. For smaller amounts where the convenience of keeping money within Revolut suits you, the Vault is a practical solution.
Setting Up a Savings Vault
- Open the Revolut app
- Tap Savings (bottom navigation or Home screen)
- Tap Create a Vault
- Name it and set an optional goal amount
- Add money by transferring from your main Revolut balance
The Vault starts earning interest immediately. You can top up, withdraw, or close the Vault at any time.
Round-Up Feature
Revolut also offers a round-up feature: every time you make a purchase, the spare change (rounded up to the nearest pound) is automatically transferred to a chosen Vault. On a £4.30 coffee purchase: 70p is added to the Vault. Over a year of regular spending, this can accumulate a meaningful amount without noticeable effort.
