UC Domestic Abuse Easement
If you’re experiencing or have recently experienced domestic abuse:
- Work-related requirements can be removed for 13 weeks
- This gives you time to find safety, seek support, and stabilise
- Tell your work coach (you can request a private appointment)
- You don’t need to provide evidence of abuse to get the easement
Split Payments
If you’re on a joint UC claim and experiencing abuse:
- Request that your share of UC is paid directly to you
- Your work coach can arrange this — ask in a private appointment
- The total UC amount stays the same but is split between you
- This can be done without your partner’s knowledge if needed
