Other Council Tax Discounts for Pensioners

Besides CTR, pensioners may qualify for:

Disability Reduction Scheme

If your home has essential features needed for a disabled resident:

  • A room mainly used for the disabled person’s needs (not a bedroom, bathroom, or kitchen)
  • Extra space needed for wheelchair use
  • A second bathroom/kitchen needed due to disability

Your Council Tax is charged at the band below yours (Band A properties get a special reduction).

If other adults live with you, deductions may apply to your CTR:

Key point: If you receive Attendance Allowance, PIP daily living, or DLA care, non-dependant deductions are completely waived for your Council Tax Reduction.
